Bonnie Lass

Bonnie lass, maiden, in yonder field
Is it for you that true love yields?
Are you kept waiting for the one to arrive,
The one destined, to make you feel all alive?

Bonnie lass, maiden, in yonder glen
Is there any one man that you can befriend?
If he be rich or be the poorest of poor,
Sweet bonnie lass, would you ask for more?

Bonnie lass, maiden, the sun now descends
Go back to your cottage to see what life sends.
The sun shone upon you, up there on the hill,
Sweet bonnie lass, you’ll get your love still.
