Body Image

Sometimes studying the mirror I'm overcome with chagrin Feeling disappointed by this shell I'm dwelling in. With my slightly too thick midriff there above my underwear, I'm more the rotund apple than alluring luscious pear, Making ludicrous comparisons to girls with waspy waists, And my nose, Lord, Pinocchio's, upon my pleasant face With its odd small accompanying hump placed what!...To accentuate? Later, however, on better days, my focus redirects To reviewing my favorite qualities, and what I see reflects A somewhat shapely figure; Legs lean, well-formed and strong; Lovely eyes, lips and breasts, and lashes that are long. So I'm obliged to acknowledge with accepting certainty My temple, though flawed, was gifted by God (And there's always rhinoplasty)! For the "I Am" Poetry Contest of Frank H.

Hi Andrea. We may not be perfect. Our bodies may not be perfect. But, God is the perfect architect. We honor him by who we are not by what we look like. You, my wonderful friend, have written a humorous and honest poem that will cause many of us to nod our head and say, "ain't it the truth. Thanks so much. Robert

Congrats on all your wins Andrea. Lazy of me to say that but this darn computer is moving so slowly I am about to give up for the night. It makes my eyes hurt. I thought this one might do well.

Nice to see that what you see is not obsessive behavior. For when we look into the mirror, God's grace is our one savior.

LOL, had a chuckle here. You look just fine to me! As you say, though, good or bad, we're all what we are. Don't bother visiting my page, my friend, as I've just posted a poem for your contest this time. Hope you have a great weekend xx

You have so much more in that brilliant brain that you don't need to give a care to the body Andrea. None of us stay 21 forever, though Joan Rivers is giving it a good go. LOL. hugs, C

Take charge of your esteem, and always try diligently to respect that " One of a kind " vessel that you stomp and romp in. So glad you mentioned those feathery eye lashes, one of my favorite parts of a woman, including well grown eye brows. J.A.B.

Your poetry is perfection and so is your 'temple'. I was anorexic for years and now when I am tempted to find flaws to fix I just remind myself that God made me exactly how He wanted and He doesn't make mistakes.

thanks, Monterey. I never went so far as to become anorexic but I have tried numerous fad diets. None have lasting effects. so today I just practice moderation. It's all I can do and still enjoy my life.
