Blurry Eyed

Blurry eyed
tears escape me like sap from a tree
unable to control their flow
falling ever silently

unable to switch off
thoughts filling my narrowing mind
slowly slipping out of sync
impossible to unwind

dear friend
I will hold you close to my heart
my angel, my watcher, my occasional lover
If only I'd known you from the start

Out of time
my life ebbs from me like high tide afternoon
my soul unravelling more each night
under the ever watchful moon

for I lost my smile
and found a frown upon my brow
the lines on my face show a journey
one which must end now
