Of course I had to come to this, blueberries being my favourite fruit and Haiku my favourite form of poetry, and you did not disappoint one little bit Susan. Each line of yours conjures up a different image and comes together beautifully as one. Love the idea of a moon smiling lopsidedly ...Maria xx

Wow! I can actually taste the blueberry! Amazing. This actually reminds me of how pablo neruda can trick the reader into experiencing flavors and smells through imagery. Using blueberry as an adjective is terribly clever. It gets the subconscious thinking blueberry without explicitly saying blueberry as an object of the poem; the night sky part actually nails down the color visually, rather than using blueberry as an adjective; the crescent moon is visually sharp and bright, just as the (1/2)

Hi Jack, this is the most wonderful, thoughtful and insightful comment I've ever received. Rich in detailed assessment and generous in kindhearted appreciation, I thank you for such an amazing comment and a wondrous visit. Btw, would that concept be subliminal seduction you referred to with Pablo Neruda? Much appreciation for your time in reading and commenting on my poem! :)

(2/2) tartness of the blueberry is sharp and bright; the "p" in lopsided sonically captures the fleshiness of the berry; star-dust captures the blue powdery surface of the blueberry; and, bliss captures the sweetness, and indirectly evokes the act of savoring, which the imagination does instinctively upon reading, accessing all of the descriptions. It's hard to find writing this good even in longer works. I'm astounded there was room to capture this richness of synesthisia in a haiku. blown away! marvellous! a real blueberry!
