An amazing picture captured in seventeen syllables, Wendy. Love the contrast between blue and white - like the bird! Congratulations on your win! Happy New Year.

Tee hee! Well... I was referred to as each in a derogatory fashion here, and I happen to be a pigeon lover, having kept doves for over a decade with dreams of a coop of homers, and I am a bit of a tart, my hubby was a clown with a character called Pi, so I was of course Tart... add that I've contemplated a handle since I got here: voila!

How kind of you to 'call back' again, Maureen. I'm fascinated to know the motive behind the 'pigeon tart!'

Thank you, Jan. I see that the species varies considerably but the picture I chose as a prompt above had the dappled and white tipped feathers.

You had me at 'strident blazonry'! Such a poetic entrance, my friend. Blue jays are beautiful in flight, and very familiar to us Californians. You nailed their personality spot on. Congrats on your win in the contest ~ John

Oh thank you, John. I was trying to combine their loud impact in both senses of the word with that beginning. I don't suppose i shall ever see one in real life, sadly.

They're not all squawk, they make remarkeable calls, but when they do get going...

What a lovely comment to receive, Maureen. It would be great to see one in real life (but maybe with ear plugs in!)
