Notes About The Poem

Blue Hummingbird

Mom is waiting for a blue hummingbird
To come by and stop for a visit.
She says it will be my brother returning
From heaven's nest to put her heart at rest.

My brother passed away a year ago. He was the oldest of six siblings and the first of us to go. Of course, Mom took it hard.

I think that's great, and hopefully will bring solace to your mum.

Thank you. My mom is still grieving, but she is Christian, and my brother accepted Christ shortly before his death. That is a comfort to my mom.

This is so heart wrenching, and yes we grieve differently and find comfort in various forms, sometimes we believe they come in some other form to comfort us: sigh. I enjoy reading your poems for the evocative touch and the flow of your words that depict real life experiences. Sending you light always
