She was gentle, loving, kind and good, And helped others whenever she could. Her tender heart was a beacon to all, Like moonlight when the nightbirds call. Her smile was the sunshine of a new day, When marshmallow clouds drift and stay. Alas, her dear vibrancy now has gone, But angels live when life's withdrawn. Loving daughter, mother, sister and wife, She cherished sweet Jesus all of her life! Like blooms that swoon beneath His feet, And the parks that blush in summer's heat! Unforgettable now is the life that she led- Like the sunsets when the sky's all red; Like the jade forests, where singing reigns, And the beauteous peacock that is so vain! She's largely responsible for who I became- My very candle has been lit by her flame! And memory is like many bright balloons, To bring smiles on the lonely afternoons. I was deeply honored for having known you- Or my skies would never have been true blue; As bluejay that sits serenading in his tree, Or a lake sparkling way out in the country!

Well, knowing this poem is not for a relative, what I see here is a lovely eulogy that I can see read in church for someone who doesn't have the ability to write such a poem, such as today I would like to read you a poem by Evelyn Judy Buehler in memory of my . . . . , A poem of care and to share I think . . . : )

This glorious tribute is full of beautiful thoughts, lovely imagery, terrific metaphors, and makes me smile from beginning to end. I was trying to figure out if it is your mother, grandmother or an aunt. I do believe it is someone who raised you.

Actually, it is complete fiction. My poetry is often like that, rather abstract in meaning, in order for the poem to remain open to many interpretations. Different people will see different things as they read it. One person may see their mother in the poem, another a sister, another a friend. It may remind someone else of a movie they once saw. I'm glad it made you smile!
