Bloodlines

They dug a grave deep that day What colour were Daddy's eyes A voice was heard to say A life of charity was their fate What colour were Daddy's eyes The lad wrote on a slate He enlisted on the rebel's side What colour were Daddy's eyes His final words..before he died They buried him deep that day What colour were Daddy's eyes.. A boy began to pray He studied hard and long What colour were Daddy's eyes Became a chorus to his song It was the source of all his fame What colour were Daddy's eyes Yet stayed his heartfelt refrain Look into a mirror, true she said Daddy & Granpa..you will see Eyes grey-blue...love-filled for thee & me.

Heartbreaking and beautiful. Love this poetry form especially with the repetition of that one incredibly strong line. Thanks for the info Brian, so appreciate your thoughtfulness. Love, Shar
