Bliss
Bliss
By Kevin Robey
June 12, 2013
To touch the words again, the beautiful lines
That came out of darkness, by my own design
I’m afraid of the light, illuminating my heart
The third dimension erased, and with it my art
I see most clearly when I’m blinded by the dark
Feeling the strongest with the holes in my heart
This wonderful hell will be the death of me
I’m trapped forever, a slave to this new reality
That’s what I want, to achieve this state of mind
Am I pulling ahead or simply falling behind?
I feel so numb these days as my weathered soul decays
I long to face the battle, to venture back into the fray
Is this happiness, or a new prison of self-imposed misery?
Do honest smiles exist, when there’s no sunshine to see?
I found the answers in the questions I asked long ago
Only to find myself facing a stranger I barely know
This is not an epic story; this is not a melodic song
This is the monotone pain I have suffered all along
Sitting in the bleak corners of my war-torn mind
My life marooned on the island where I resigned
