Blinding Purple
Oh would they had not gazed that night
That moonless night of long ago,
As purple streaks of tanzanite
Emitted their pernicious glow.
Like moths attracted to a flame
The mountain folk stared, mesmerized.
Now lives will never be the same;
Their eyes by blindness paralyzed.
