Blade of Grass
A blade of grass peeks from a crack in the pavement,
silently growing with each passing moment.
Not caring about its harsh surrounding,
it survives firm and uncomplaining.
Left to itself it will rise and then flourish
unless some footsteps crush it to pieces.
It will break through every rock and stone,
determined to do it all alone.
Love is like a blade of grass -
it will grow anywhere it finds itself.
Give it time and grant it space,
it will live in the sun or in the haze.
If you spy a blade of grass along the way,
you’ll see a spirit wanting to be free.
Just like a sparrow that flies on high,
it will find its place under the sky.
