Black Tie
I’ll never understand it
When an invitation states
“Black tie.” Who cares what’s worn
When everybody celebrates?
If guests must follow certain rules
About the way to dress,
It’s taking out excitement
And replacing it with stress.
Of course, a bride and groom must have
Their vision for their day
And over certain choices
Their decisions should hold sway.
But there should be some trust
In what their friends and families wear.
For a perfect wedding, no one needs
A “black tie” type affair.
