Black Dog Is Barking...

Black dog barked today
Just to let me know
Its presence still exists

Just when I had
Eagerly marked off the calender
All the days it had missed

Was this a warning
I asked myself
Not to get too sure of being free

For as soon
As I begin to snuggle into happiness
Its ears prick up, and it growls at me

I accepted its brief birth
It swam around in me
Begging me to hold it tight

I gave it acknowledgement
But refused to engage
In yet another fight

I found my feet
I held my heart
Praying 'Hold me so'

And in my begging breath
I felt the black dog
Had for now, let me go...!
