Bitterflies
Inspired by a friends’ typo...
...When do the butterflies in our stomachs stop fluttering?
Why do they stop being so happy?
Is it because they have morphed into bitterflies?
Do butterfly kisses turn into bitterfly backstabs?
and if butterflies are free to fly, do bitterflies have clipped wings?
If we go chasing butterflies, and catch bitterflies
is it because we have been blinded by the ones, who like moths,
chew through the fabric of our lives,
readily and eagerly devouring all with greed?
Remind me to use spellcheck. I don’t want bitterflies in my life.
