Dim sum

Poet’s notes:

7/5/2018

“Dim sum (literal meaning: snack) is a style of Chinese cuisine prepared as small bite-sized portions of food served in small steamer baskets or on small plates.  The Cantonese tradition of having endless cups of tea and dim sum is also called “yum cha”, which means “drink tea” in Cantonese... Yum cha has its roots in travelers on the ancient Silk Road needing a place to rest.  Thus, tea houses were established along the roadside... People later discovered that tea can aid in digestion, so teahouse owners began adding various snacks.” (Wikipedia -Dim Sum)
