Birthday Mirror

I wrapped you a gift On this your birthday At first it may seem As if it's ok But deep is the meaning And I hope you approve As we gather around To celebrate you Within the paper Lies my surprise As you unwrap my feelings Behold with your eyes A plain simple mirror I'm sure you'll give thanks Maybe someday you'll find The joy that it brings You'll set it aside Thinking that's all I got But it's meaning is twofold Did you think it was not Please take it home But do not set aside Hang it on a wall To see what it hides For within that mirror An Angel appears So stunning the picture Ever so clear From the smile on her face To the look in her eye Maybe you'll finally see What I've realized It's only a mirror But there before you Is the gift I adore One I can't ever lose On your good days you look And may smile as you pass On the bad ones your beauty Still shows in the glass We celebrate you Here on this day But really it's me Who sits and gives thanks Cause each time you look Every time you will see Looking upon you's the gift God has sent me It may not seem much The gift that I gave But it comes with love Everyday For now you may see Just what I do How the mirror holds my gift And that gift is YOU
