Birth Notes
The mystery of my birthday has been solved
Seems it was a Friday, two days before Pearl Harbor
Twenty-six days remaining in the year evolved
Into the most momentous for both my mother
and the United States of America.
The year was 1941, December 5, to be exact.
Most people, I am told, were simply unaware
That two days later our country would be attacked
Father would go off to war which seemed unfair
To fight for the United States of America.
The year is now 2021, and soon I will be eighty
My life is enriched when I relive this fond memory
But it could have been so much better, maybe,
If war had not tainted earliest years of my infancy
Growing up in the United States of America.
