Big Little Strong Girl
big little strong girl
it's okay...
truly didn't start out that way
from the moment of passage through the womb
the clock of pain engaged
a ticking of pain that seemed never ending
like a lonnnng slow road to hell
driving pain bone marrow deep...
but no one could tell
'cause you hid it well
left on your own to fend for yourself
navigating life like a lost hiker without a compass
having to rely on common sense
and the whispers of a loving Creator
always on your right shoulder
coaching you through the madness
His method forging you through the fire
ascending you to a place of peace and calm
no longer a casualty of passed down ancestral wounds
giving you the gift of forgive and let go
became time to heal
but today still ... you'll stand guard
hypervigilance dies hard
at the hint of a stench of old familiar
you can get triggered
but... rest my dear
I got us from here... my inner child
