Beyond Words

The silence is broken by sighs of surrender
The ping of enlightenment deflected on a teardrop
Rolling down the ambiguous face of a pretender
And missiles fall more frequently than raindrops

Emotions flow downward to shatter like glass
And scatter into a million fragile pieces of confusion
The mind cast in shackles of brilliant brass
A tether restraining a brain-dead modern aberration

Who’s to say the world is not turned upside-down
When in the West the days are getting darker
And people choose to only tolerate their own
Adoption of foreign nationals a forbidden marker

The will to love frozen numb with fears unspoken
An unsatiated thirst for reason in the reign of terror
Because in truth, lies can now never be unproven
Humanity has lost the ability to correct its mounting errors
