Beyond This Cosmic Crust

Microscopic, so to speak
A spec upon a grain
A world adrift in endless space
Until it's star should wane

and then again, will all be dust?
Is escape an impossible dream?
To venture beyond this cosmic crust.
Is forever as close as it seems?

Eternally caught in a silky web
The fabric of space and time
Peering out to systems beyond
But too many steps to climb.
