Beyond the Door of Greed
Beyond the Door of Greed
Searching for gold through a long-forgotten door,
You found a lucky vessel on the dusty floor.
An ancient pot, gleaming with a heavy, golden light,
But you ignored the warning hissed into the night.
“Cleanse your soul before you dare to reach within,”
It whispered of the price, the gravity of sin.
“Tell me why you crave these things, then offer up a deal
Nothing gory, nothing cruel, just something true and real.”
But you ignored the rules; you pushed and pushed for more,
Abusing every blessing that the vessel bore.
I made my own exceptions, but the debt has come to collect
Now the power of the payback is the one thing you can’t deflect.
The deal is done. The golden dream has hollowed out your chest,
As you fall into the liquid depths, a slow and dissolving guest.
For justice has its timing, and the lesson hits the core.
Never strike a bargain till you’ve truly learned the score.
So let the witnesses cross their hearts and step away,
For there is no mercy left for you this day.
No one will lend a hand if they knew what you have done,
Your shadow is too heavy for the reaching of the sun.
The debt you have is everlasting, deep and wide,
With no more room for mercy, and no more place to hide.
So we bless our hands to push you in not to save or win.
And pray the pot is ready as we watch you tumble in.
