Beyond the Bunker Door

The purest gift that we can give
Is one another
Rising from the dust
Of waging war
Facing what we fear
To save each other
From our rivals
Just beyond the bunker door
Bombs creating havoc in the morning
Missiles float like feathers
In the wind
Sirens blasting sounds
With urgent warning
The beginning that will soon
Become our end
Married were the two
Just days before
Hand in hand
They face the battles all around
With vows to keep allegiance
They have sworn
To save what used to be
Their peaceful town
Beyond the bunker door
The smoke is rising
A scent of human loss
Is in the air
A war that no one wins
While compromising
The promise that the heart
Was meant to share
