Beyond Reach

It slithered, wounded, off into a breach within the granite face, obscured by brush. Near vanquished in the fight, aroused by cries of nesting thrush, it caught a glimpse, as she skipped blithely by, from its remaining reptilian eye. Scarce mastering the rush, tantalizingly close, but for now, beyond reach… ————- a Mistress Broadstreet stanza (10a-10b-6c-8b-10d-10d-6b-12a) for the Beyond Reach Poetry Contest sponsored by Mystic Rose Rose awitten on 12/26/22
