Beyond Beyond
I have walked here before sometime ago
The visions are clear and in vivid color
As if it has been only hours or so
That I was here for the first time
But I was very young then you know
Spring was rubbing away winters sleep
Warmth brought life to dormant seeds
Shades of gray turning green
As sounds of life woke silent dreams
And a new world took stage before me
Like from a deep dream I awoke
Suddenly came true and I was really me
In a real place so big too far to see
Horizons beyond those beyond those
Too far and big for a child to be
Growing beside my country friends
Hiding from them in tall corn
Until I too was enough tall to see
Beyond this grand place where I was born
I wandered there beyond beyond
Oh look ! what magic nature brings
By sight I drank in wondrous things
I soared in skies and felt the wind
Heard the aria the warbler sings
Climbed atop the highest slopes
I stopped to smell the mountain air
I felt the peaceful calm found there
Then sailed away the sea to dare
That world a place apart from land
Beckoned me to step from shore
And cross again beyond beyond
Waiting there for more and more
Oh life precious life endured
This chance that I have won
Given by cold death deferred
I must someday pass it on
I will walk there again alone
And close my eyes to be
Back there where I was born
When I was very young you see
