Beyond

Beyond...

Sleep eludes me
All of me aches
Sand dances in my eyes
And shades draw down
Beyond my control

But despite my endeavours
My mind is alert
My heart is howling
Breaking into pieces a 1000 times over
Aching beyond despair, beyond anguish

I try to crawl under a space
Somewhere in the deep
In the abyss of my recesses
In a place, where once there was solace
In a place beyond the realm of pain

But all is lost
In your empty promises
All is dried up, barren
Like words that fade with passing seconds
Like the wind beyond my grasp.

I'm left to gather the pieces
From faint memories
From tainted images and distorted truths
Through a web of pain and disappointments
Beyond my broken heart, my new reality.

Shock may have broken me down
Anguish may have knocked me down a notch
Pain may crowd my judgement
But like a phoenix I will rise
Beyond this rumble my life has become.
