Between Our Words

After a long, quiet gap,
with no plans,
no expectations,
life brought us back
to the same place—
as if it knew
we still had something to find
in each other.

We were reaching for different futures,
different dreams,
yet somehow
our paths curved
toward the same moment.

At first, it was only glances—
brief, stolen,
almost shy.
The same routine,
the same spaces,
the silent pull of noticing
and missing
when the other wasn’t there.

Then we sat side by side.
Close enough to feel the warmth,
close enough to wonder
why it felt familiar.

And after the first small troubles,
the walls fell softly.
We talked—
God, we talked—
as if the words had been waiting
for years.
As if our eyes had known each other
long before our voices did.

We poured out everything:
our fears,
our quiet wounds,
our dreams shaped by longing,
our past tangled with shadows,
our present trembling with hope,
our future waiting to be written.

The world disappeared around us.
Two hearts,
pulled like magnets,
unable to drift apart.

And the next time we sat together,
we fell even deeper—
into honesty,
into comfort,
into a strange, beautiful trust.

We shared the parts
we had hidden from everyone else,
the parts we thought
no one would understand.

Yet somehow,
within hours,
you understood me
like a lifetime.
And our bond grew gentle,
steady,
as if it had been there
all along—
just waiting
for us to notice.
