Best In Retirement

Best in retirement.

There comes a joy, a contentment not had before in life.

The struggles in life about over, the ordeals mostly gone.

Sweet surrender it is called but it’s more like victory.

Victory over life not had years before.

New friends become familiar, old ones more dear.

For some it is to know steadfastly they are going home.

Not to an earthly dwelling place but an eternal home.

To Loves eternity without question.

Thank much for your comment. I live in an apartment complex for those over 62. Hear much on the down side of retirement. Beat of Retirement is my finding and answer to. Peace, Love and Joy.

Dear John, I have been retired many years and followed my own advice...do not have any debt, and do have a hobby! I am glad you have made your hobby poetry! Great poem my dear. Betty

Thanks much for your comment, rating and the kind and caring advice. Picked up doing poetry after quitting smoking at 50. At times seemingly one addition for another. Ha. Some community classes in poetry did help. Peace, Love and Joy.

I am enjoying retirement for ten years already and hope for another 30 years! haha. The question I have now is this: How did I find time to work? Now I have not enough time to do the things I love! Beautifully done my friend, John!
