Benign Bliss Burn
Ever since day one
Our energies were in sync
Our frequencies resonated perfectly
The way we talked, the ideas we shared, and how we think
All the things we'd been through
The experiences we'd had
Mirrored each other seamlessly
Both the good, and the bad
I laid my head upon your chest
And could hear my own heartbeat
You needed to be nothing except yourself
To sweep me off my feet
We were echoes of one another
Given the same script to life, and meant to be each other's interlude
After all the pain and suffering we've had to go through
To be each other's, "something good"
But fate is as cruel as it is kind
As it put a twist in the tale
Giving us the potential to be so unbelievably great
But then causing us to fail
And maybe we could have been "it" you know
Our one chance at all the things we always wanted but never got
But to not even have the chance to put us to the test
I guess that's what truly hurts
All the what ifs and could haves
All the should haves and maybes
Or as I read somewhere some time ago
"If it was never meant to be, then letting go should be easy"
And now, all that echoes
Is the silence and space between us
Distance, where there should have been love
And fear, where there should have been trust
All the unspoken words fill the air
Things our hearts are dying to say
Questioning if we're making terrible mistakes
Unwilling to let the other go away
It deeply hurts to say goodbye
But I must, and wish you well
And hope someday, we'll meet again
But only time will tell
I'll put my pen down after this poem
For I have run out of blood with which to write
Maybe I'll pick it up again someday
Someday, when I'm alright
Goodbye, My Echo
