Benevolent Critic

Look to the world through my eyes
and there you will see: a man who hates
another and that other realizing he can love.
Look to the world though my eyes
and there you will find: a man with no heart
and a man who feels double.
Look to the world though my eyes
and there you will see chaos and calm.
I am that man.
I steel myself to the world
but it would rather feel the pearl within.
I would love to heal this world
and allow it to take me in;
to love it, though it not me.
