Beneath my skin

Beneath my skin, upon my flesh
Are knives that cut and swell
And at every move and every twitch
Oh, it hurts like hell

Never has a day gone by
Without the shadow of past
And every pond I come across
Somehow it seems so vast

I do not know what peace means
I do not recognize light
And I’m okay, I really am
I’m used to all this night

Don’t expose me, do not teach
Make sure I am not learning
Of beauty life can have and hold…

I cannot deal with yearning

The night is darkest before the dawn, the prophets and the poets say. Let us hope so, Rachel. Peace and Serenity, Gershon

Dear Rachel, your poem hurts and you let it. You don’t dress it up, don’t ask for pity, don’t pretend. That restraint makes it hit harder. Autumn Blessings, Dear Rachel, Daniel

Many deal with these emotions as they tangle around the mind. Heartbreaking, indeed. You've expressed this very well, Rachel. My best to you. Hugs, Brandy

Wow. Cuts deep. I have horrible nervous conditions I deal with 24/7 so maybe I am interpreting this from my own perspective. But I really relate to this poem

It's a strong poem of resilience. I hope it shows a path for others who have an extra burden. My prayers and wishes go with you.

This truly hurts. You are a person with so much sensitivity- beneath the skin or not. God be God to you <3
