Beneath A Fiery Sky Of Red

Those haunting memories long ago
when we were children, you and I
they visit me on lonely nights
as ticking of the clock goes by

There is no balm to soothe the heart
nor fill the void that lingers where
you always stood, sweet lover, friend
beside me here without a care

We chased the sun along the hills
in hopes it wouldn't get away
Beneath a fiery sky of red
we'd watch the sunset end the day

This world that you departed from
cares not for shattered hopes and dreams
The life together that we planned
was never meant to be, it seems

So many summers came and went
since we last sat together here
beneath a fiery sky of red
to watch the sunset disappear
