Below Freezing

It's 30 degrees outside,
What may seem another day,
To my cold but bitter pride,
Has become another way...
To strengthen as I rise,
So my heart starts pumping more,
As I try to compromise,
The way it felt the day before...
The path below ascends,
And gets harder on my heels,
So why should I pretend,
It will soften when I kneel...
When they want you to crawl,
Or be the reason that you breathe,
But I won't front at all,
That's more a reason just to leave...
So I branded to my heart,
The only thing that keeps me warm,
Though its freezing I still start,
Everyday since she was born...
