Belly of the Beast
Closed in without a doubt
Whole world turned over
In this sad life nothing to tout
My reactions much slower
I continued to drown
In the belly of my beast
It kept me completely bound
As it continued to feast
On my life as I knew it
Only a matter of time now
Before it cracks the final whip
If it permits, time for my final bow
The decision to fight back
Was not an easy one at all
Because I was so far off track
The reality of death made me stall
The losses amounted so fast
Pain brought me to a crawl
How long would this last
Thoughts of life without
Anything ever remotely beautiful
Began to loudly shout
As I fought the beast became vengeful
Nearly driving me off the edge insane
But the last form of pain reinforced
That the beast’s efforts were in vain
It hurt like hell to pull completely away
The withdraw delivered a lot of pain
Happy to say death saved my life on this day
