Notes About The Poem

My Challenge For October Poetry Contest- Sponsored by Andrea Dietrich

Belly Button

It's so weird looking, and I've really grown to dislike it.
I remember as a child, how cool looking it was when it filled up with bath water
I would squeeze the skin around it together to completely hide it, it worked!
Growing up I've always had one of those Innie types
Unfortunately, these days my Innie has become an Outie
I guess my tummy being a bit ballooned, and my age, has something to do with that
I hate my new Outie; it pops out like a cherry on an ice cream cone
The only thing it really hurts is my feelings, it bothers me constantly
Geez, it looks like I've got a third nipple right smack in the middle of my tummy
Perhaps it's time for a diet, I want my Innie back!

Oh my, Charlie, what a strange thing this is. Thankfully you won't be showing your belly button unless you go swimming or something. That was funny about it being like a third nipple. thanks for this entry and congratulations in my contest.

this poem is witty, personal, and creatively written...a unique topic as well. I'm with you, 'outies' look strange to me....best wishes with the contest.

You need to out the innie or turn the button inside-out or something like that. Too cute but oh my a third nipple…say n to triple nipples. LOL

Hello Charles, This is such a funny, honest, and relatable poem. I absolutely love that you took something so common and made it the subject of such a meaningful, conversational piece. Getting older means dealing with changes we didn't expect, and it’s okay to want our old "Innie" back! LOL! Autumn Blessings, Charles, Daniel
