Bells of Home

Bells of Home
My memory sings when the brass school bell rings, so I ring it every day.
It sits on my hallway table with the other two. I love the words it has to say,
“Come play, play with life’s joy. Come play every girl and boy”

The next in size is an elegant figure eight
With a long smooth handle and a lozenge shaped ringer
That softly strokes the sides and sounds just like an opera singer.

The last is a little squat cuplike form, inside it a small heavy bead
Swirling as it sends out the hypnotic hum,
 Round and round,
 Becoming an invisible vibrational drum.

Every morning I ring them all, to wake me and the energy in my hall.
