Bells of Albion in WW2

. Bong

                                           Albion’s sweetest song

Silenced in the bitter war six years long

Every marriage stave and every funeral knell

Every vanishing joy of life and every sorrow from death

Were met with death-filled silence, as the world wailed in hell

Bells only rung when countless were about to lose their life’s breath

No bells to cast away demons, only to warn their new servant’s arrival

Albion hoped that these bells would stop war’s storm from carrying on

The empire where the sun never sets, was about to set with no revival

No requiem sung for the parting day or for the day of the morning Son

No bells for the lamb’s birth or his awakening from the grave’s restraints

Prayers from towers could not reach the angels in the heavenly domain

Prayers of families sheltered underground reached angels and martyred saints

Hoping for heaven’s dove to return, and for those bells to sing despite England’s rain

                                                               Ding-dong

                                                                   Bong
