Behind My Eyes

How come you can’t see the tears in my eyes?
How is it that none of you can hear my cries?
Am I invisible or too unimportant for you?
I’m very passionate, loyal, and will be very true
The fear I feel is real, can’t anyone feel it too?
Am I destined for this life to be eternally blue?
I smile sometimes, not often enough I am told
Is there a pause button to put this life on hold?
That would be a dream come true for you and me
For time to stop and stand still like a huge oak tree
The freedom of love, of passion, and the pure joy
The wonderful and lavish love of a good ol' boy
To be held tight when nightfall suddenly comes
To hear your heart pounding hard like big drums
Reality hasn’t been kind, but we make a great pair
But reality only hurts you if you admit that you care
Keep all the dark feelings, and thoughts behind your eyes
No body can hurt you, no matter how long and hard they try
