Behind Me

There's something dark behind me,
laying in those broken shards of glass
slippery with blood
something I can’t get past.
I can't say what it is,
all I know is that it's there
and it's forever waiting,
to swallow me when unaware.
It's like walking on egg shells
except these cut so very deep
makes you afraid to close your eyes
makes you afraid to sleep.
There's something dark behind me
and I'm afraid to turn around
because I know what it is,
and it can take me down.

Behind us oonly lies the past closed out by a mortal door ... and yet the pass can cross that door, and block the way before ... so that they tell me to live today in such a way that when it too becomes the past we won't mind it coming through the door ... I love this mystery of this poem hence my comments are inspired by the power in its write.
