Behind All Anger Is Sadness

He is so angry he will not talk to anyone.
I happen to be teaching his class a lesson
They are in teams enjoying themselves
Except him; he is shutting down rapidly.

He taps the pencils against the desk
Over and over and over and over and over.
I ask him to come with me and he does.
I ask him what has happened.

Seeing tears, I go get three tissues.
He tells me he wanted to check out a book.
The librarian said he could not have that one.
He is totally sad.

I am sad too, because this has ruined his day.
He told his teacher he did not know how dumb he was
Until today.
I have no words, just feeling sad with him.

Oh my, my! I'll have a difficult time getting over this one, Caren. Bad day...tooth ache where there is no tooth, but much pain. Didn't write a line today except a few comments.

I took him to librarian twice that day to get the book. She wanted to LECTURE him. I finally gave up thinking he would never get it.
