Before the Break Up With Him

BEFORE THE BREAK UP WITH HIM

East of Eden, a dark station apple-less -
End of line - end of happiness.

We hold no paper bond, for
I still have my name - you your.
Of course you are free from fetter
To do what you think is better
For you. But it’s time to say
Thank you for each journey and way
We travelled, and how I am grateful,
For dreams you gave by the heartful,
For the feelings I have had,
For knowledge joyful and sad,
And certainty that there is happiness,
There is contented fulness,
In this world - but only with the cement
Of honesty, loyalty, and commitment.

One bite from the apple unbidden.
Such fruit is always forbidden.
