Before I Knew About Tomorrow

They say its nothing
Could it all go wrong
Every sign says so
A long wait

Yesterday was normal
Can we go back again
To the time
I laid in bed so unafraid

Thankful for all I had
In my prayers
Hoping this would last
But knowing it couldn’t

The night is long
I listen to his breaths
And my mind races
I wish I could sleep

As I look out my window
At the street lights
and the stars in the sky
My world becomes so small

I finally drift off in his arms
There are no dreams
Just blissful exhaustion
For a few hours

Morning arrives and brings
A clearer mind
Hope is again stirring
In my soul
And I begin today
