Before I Die

Before I die... I want to see... the sun set one more time
And then to watch... it rise again... God's glory in its shine

I want the stars... to twinkle bright... against the velvet sky
The beacon face... that is the moon... winking with one eye

Before I die... I want to watch... the seasons change again
Even winter... with its chill... has been my lifelong friend

To feel the summer swelter... as grapes ripen... on the vine
To taste those fruits.. of living... turned into fine red wine

I want to smell... spring blossoms... or smoking embers burn
I want to read... just one more book... then have the chance to learn

To sing the words... I love you... but not to say... goodby
Please Lord... I pray... for one more day... before I die

One may hope that, like a Merry-go-Round, the ride is even better the next time around!

Quoting John Lennon... 'I'm just sitting here watching the wheels go round and round... I really love to watch them roll... no longer riding on the Merry-go Round... I just had to let it go' ... thank you for your comment... as long as we are able to... let us... write on... bless you... JVD
