"because We Deserve It"?

Christ said:
“I leave you with another commandment.
Love others as I have loved you.”
“Let the little children come to me,
For the Kingdom of God is made up of these.”

Humanity has missed and will miss them dearly,
How many saviors in one million strong,
Slaughtered  for convenience yearly,
By a  proud and licentious throng.

We have come to believe the verbal engineering talk.
Mr. Webster says it all really quite simple and plain.
To mangle and kill with malice aforethought .
That’s murder, "abortion" the engineered name.

How many prophets, Ghandis, Kings and dreams,
Destroyed in these political, selfish schemes,
Disdaining and disallowing our salvation to carry on,
They come through us, not from us as said by Gibran.

Easy to blame the many voted in,
But how in Hades did they get there?
“Voted”, the  keyword to economy’s spin.
The dollar god, ...do babies care?

Yes we can prose about love and compassion,
But my friends, love is in the mind and will.
Feeling good warm fuzzies are all the fashion,
Yet, what part of love can vote to kill?

Do this “because you deserve it” the ads say,
“because you’re worth it”. We have our nerve!
Lord, if we don’t change.. come doomsday,
Humanity will get "what we deserve."

I also wish someone would do poems about the immorality of sleeping around and causing these unwarranted pregnancies to happen in the first place! Caroline Cécile Delacroix February 8, 2010 at 10:57 AM Robert, I so agree with you and I am 100% behind Daver in his comments as well. Free love is what ruins everything. It is what ruined the hyppie movement who ended up drowning their freedom in a drugged stupor. Definitely, responsibility played a great factor to that. When we deny God, we loose the sense of responsibility for our own life. Thanks for sharing your wisdom. Best wishes, Caroline.

Miriam Mccue February 7, 2010 at 6:30 PM The author didn't mention oil. In fact I don't think any of his poems mentions oil. If u knew him you would lol at the notion that he "sold his soul to financial security."

Michael Harman February 6, 2010 at 3:28 PM Whats funny, is that you conservatives are my enemy, i believe you are the cause of the destruction of the planet and our collective suicide from greed. I will fight for the evolution of humanity, towards loving our fellow man, housing and clothing every human despite laziness or stupidity. What strikes me as odd is on occassion i meet a conservative that heart is in the right place. Those people i hate to attack, but it is my path and follow it pondering Gods plan.

Michael Harman February 6, 2010 at 3:18 PM I attacked you and you didnt attack me back, I am surprised, that shows that you are more christian than i thought. Lord Jesus taught to let them crucify you and forgive them as they do. I do not agree with abortion as God gave us that child, but defend a lesser persons right to have one. I do not want my government telling me what religion to follow, and respect the athiests rights. I also defend the poor, they are like children that need to be taught to love and trust. They can not help it.

Daver Austin February 6, 2010 at 1:09 PM I think about responsibility - I used to argue with my students, during the "hippie" days, about free love. Free love will never work, I maintained, because the commitment, the responsibility factor is negated. So with killing the unborn - the responsibility factor is negated. Who the hell is responsible? I sincerelybeleve that "Love is all"-and how can we say we love others when we murder unborn children without an ounce of conscience-how incredible selfish! The time is coming when there will be no sitting on the sidlines or just going with the flow. We will have to choose God or "money". It's too bad that some will not even have that opportunity! Thankfully we live by His grace!( and His final judgment) I particularly like the line;" we can prose" but it's in the mind that counts! I can't imagine what other people are reading here.??? I call killing 100thousand civilians for the greed of your beloved oil companies a sin. If you would stop supporting the rich raping the bottom 50 percent of the population maybe poor could afford their children. But that isnt the real problem anyway, the problem is that you are afraid of love and hate people who chase love and sex. Because you sold your soul too financial security.
