Because I Loved You Then

BECAUSE
I LOVED YOU THEN

OH HOW I MISS THE MORNING HUGS,
AND KISSES ON THE STEP
THE DAY YOU TOOK ME IN YOUR HOME,
I STARTED OFF UPSET
AS TIME WENT ON I REALIZED,
HOW MUCH YOU REALLY CARED
THEN YOU TOOK ME IN YOUR ARMS,
AND HELD ME VERY NEAR
I TRUSTED YOU AND WANTED TO BE
MORE THAN JUST A FRIEND,
SO I OPENED UP MY HEART TO YOU,
THAT’S WHEN IT ALL BEGAN

BECAUSE
I LOVED YOU THEN

THE MANY NIGHTS I DROVE HOME LATE,
THE KISS ON THE RAILROAD TRACKS
YOU BLEW MY MIND JUST IN TIME,
OH HOW I LOVE THAT FLASHBACK
EVERY NOW AND THEN I GO BACK IN TIME
AND STEAL MOMENTS SUCH AS THESE
YOU WON MY HEART;
YOU WON MY SOUL AND EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN
IF YOU EVER WONDERED WHAT I THOUGHT
OR WHAT MESSAGE DID YOU SEND
REST ASSURE, YOU HAD MY HEART

BECAUSE
I LOVED YOU THEN
