Beauty Within

One cool day
while at church
up in the balcony
one man was perched

With tears in his eyes
the man began to cry
"Tell me oh Lord
Please tell me why"

" Why am I so ugly
with this hunched back"
Screaming, "Tell me oh Lord"
as he began his attack

The Lord softly said
fulfilling him with grace
"Why you're the best looking hunch back
in this whole place"

"If everyone looked the same
it really wouldn't matter
for it's the beauty within
to which people are flattered"

Remember, we are all beautiful people
and come from places
doesn't matter what language we speak
or the color of our faces...

Enjoyed your poem and liked the humor a lot. "Best looking etc..." Puts it all in the proper place.

So much wisdom in this clever poem, Edward. Beauty is in the heart and a blessing from God that can't be judged through physical appearances. Enjoyed your poem! Best wishes for the contest, Carolyn
