Beat of My Heart

Spend day after day
Watching time slip away
Wasn't sure I'd make it this long
So many choices wrong
Feeling old age Start to creep
My bones weep
To the dreams I hoped to find
Pictures saved just to remind
Slowly seemed to get lost in my mind
As youth left me behind
So many things
I thought age brings
Had to learn first hand
Guess it makes it easier to understand
Love I thought I found
Life put her in the ground
Lessons learned
From times I've been burnt
Memories start to fill my mind
Scars left there to remind
Wasn't always strong
Times I was wrong
Took some time
Commented to my rhyme
Days turn into night
But the memories still burn bright
So long ago
Things I thought I would know
Now I just go with the flow
Times i thought I knew it all
Just to watch my dreams fall
Slowly age steals my why's
Can only see how time flies
My dreams start to fade
time may not of made
My eyes to see,
The truths as they may be
But the fire remains the same
Still stuck inside that flame
Off all the things I see
Lessons learned were never free
I carry them to this day
Memories are the price I pay
For Times not meant to stay
Of tomorrow I have no fear
Gone is all I've held dear
No reason for a tear
It is all a part of being me
Each thing I did see
Is all just a part
Of the beat of my heart

As we get older, memories are a constant. Very touching and realistic poem.Willaim. Be wary of loneliness. It is a disease that will eat you alive. Have a great day my friend.
