Beat

A sound is thumping in my heart
Beat, beat, beat.
Such wonder, I thought I'd never meet
Beat, beat, beat.

Just one person came along
And showed me beauty with her song
She made the world a simple treat
With her beat, beat, beat.

When no one else would take the chance
She came to teach me how to dance:
To bounce the step within my feet
That beat, beat, beat.

My soul resounds,
My heart shall greet
The beat . . .
The very beat that makes my heart
beat, beat, beat.
