Bear With Me
Bear with Me
a waking bear
peeks
scanning a bleak landscape
wondering…..hmmm
is it too soon.
Will my presence
alter nature
cause the Spring
to withdraw
the wind to whisper
the birds to silence.
I remember
lush fields
and berries…..
oh those succulent…..berries
and honey…..and bees
and fishing.
Where have they gone
those fields
their berries, bees, honey?
My fishin’ hole
crunchy hard?
A rumbling stomach
taunts me.
I lie awake
and hope
for the screech
of the osprey.
