Be Always In the Fear of God - Proverbs 23: 17,18

Keep your heart guarded always
be not filled with envy at all
don't let others life entice you
to follow them will be your fall

Keep your eyes focused on God
be continually filled with His fear
making sure your hearts bowed
in reverence to God so dear

Make sure this is continually so
bowing to God in your inward soul
submitting your whole self fully
every day may this be your goal

This is for you an eternal future
in the fear of God to continue
always in a state of divine presence
knowing in reality Christ in you

This is your longed for hope
that it won't be ever put out
shining in your heart so strong
from your Lord's everlasting fount

( 'Let not your heart envy sinners,
but continue in the fear of the Lord all the day.
Surely there is a future,
and your hope will not be cut off.')

Hi Gordon, nice religious poem but I know that God is Love. We do definitely have to respect Him as He is the great I AM though.:)

Well written Gordon, but as a non believer, why would a loving God want us to fear him/her/whatever. I'm a mixture of Buddhism with Taoism, and fear is not part of the equation.

Thanks Lenny, glad you liked it. The fear God requires of us is a reverential fear giving Him first place in our life's seeking to obey and live in a personal relationship with Him through His son Jesus Christ, trust gives something my bible understanding of fear.
