Battle Waged Within
Every night, as she laid herself to sleep
Images of demons and angels, in her head, did creep
The war of good and evil, and everything in between
Transpired all around her, though, their physical forms were unseen
Am I going crazy? She, often, thought to herself
You’re the only one in here; all alone by yourself
Every time, it was always the same
First, came the demons who cried out her name
Their hideous faces and blood red eyes
Their ridicule and torment; she greatly despised
Was she really so bad and morally wrong?
She didn’t think hell was where she belonged
She tried to close her eyes and wish them away
She heard their taunting whispers to, “Come out and play.”
She knew the routine and, yet, it still scared her to the core
She knew that the angels are who to ask for
She called up to Heaven and emerged a bright light
The presence of an angel, what a marvelous sight!
The peace overcame her and she continued to pray
She asked for understanding of why things are this way
“It’s the battle for your soul,” came the reply
“They will always fight against you, or at least, always try.”
“The battle rages on, though, it remains unseen.”
“You have to choose a side and not live in between.”
Obviously, the right decision is reaching salvation
How will she deny giving into temptations?
We all know that battle; the one waged within
We all face a choice; which side will win
